WAVERLY— With rising temperatures and the end of the school year, many people are planning to get out and have fun.
River Adventures is now open for the summer, giving Waverly residents a way to enjoy the outdoors.
Adventures on the River is located on the Scioto River and offers guests a safe environment full of activities including kayaking, swimming, fishing, camping, airsoft and more. Kayakers have the choice of an 11 km or 22 km trip.
They were established in 2021 by owner Bobby Oliver who was happy to bring more activities to an area where he felt there wasn’t much to do. Although opening during the pandemic was difficult, the business continued to grow and develop. They are currently considering adding zip lines and ax throwing to their list of activities.
They also plan to offer more events, like Christmas lights, later in the year once the camping season is over.
Adventures on the River has partnered with Winston’s Camping in Chillicothe to offer RV rentals to overnight guests. Winston’s Camping takes care of the delivery, set up and tear down when you rent a campervan from them.
In addition to Adventures on the River, Winston’s Camping offers services for people staying at Deer Creek State Park, Shawnee State Park, Pike Lake State Park, Hocking Hills State Park and Tar Hollow State Park.
